In January 2025, the S.T.E.P. – Single-parent Training and Empowerment Program continued with a new series of intensive, in-person workshops, this time structured as weekend marathons in both Romania and Portugal. These events brought together single parents for two full days of reflection, practical exercises, and meaningful connection.
In Mafra, Portugal, a new group of parents joined the program facilitated by Cultiv – Associação de Ideias para a Cultura e Cidadania. With the support of AEPAL, the sessions concluded with smiles, deep reflections, and heartfelt sharing. Experiencing the program alongside others facing similar life challenges created a powerful sense of solidarity. Many participants expressed a desire to continue meeting informally, carrying the spirit of mutual support beyond the program.

Meanwhile, in Sibiu, Romania, the second series of practical workshops was hosted by Asociatia Sprijin pentru Mame and over two intensive days, the participants engaged with the 12 core themes of the STEP program, putting theory into action. From self-awareness and emotional regulation to assertive communication and healthy relationships with children and others, the weekend offered parents a space for deep introspection, shared experiences, and renewed confidence in their parenting journey.

Both workshops were characterized by openness, courage, and a strong sense of community. The trust and dedication shown by participants in both countries speak to the program’s impact in fostering growth and resilience among single-parent families.
The online platform www.step-plus.com remains available to all interested parents, offering free access to the theoretical modules and the opportunity to continue this empowering journey at their own pace.
The S.T.E.P. project is implemented in partnership with Cultiv – Associação de Ideias (Portugal) and Asociatia Sprijin pentru Mame (Romania), co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program.
